Technical Sales Specialist

Be the bridge between our technical solutions and the clients who need them, scoping requirements,
shaping proposals, and helping businesses find the right fit across our managed services and
technology offerings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for prospective clients, understanding their business needs and translating them into the right technology solutions.
  • Build and present proposals, quotes, and solution outlines covering our managed services, cloud, and infrastructure offerings.
  • Work closely with our technical and delivery teams to ensure proposed solutions are accurate, deliverable, and aligned with client expectations.
  • Conduct discovery calls and site visits to assess client environments and identify opportunities for improvement or new services.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of Liyatech's product and service portfolio, including Microsoft 365, Azure, and related technologies.
  • Manage the sales pipeline from initial enquiry through to close, keeping accurate records in our CRM at every stage.
  • Respond to RFQs and RFPs with clear, well-structured, and technically sound submissions.
  • Build long-term relationships with clients, becoming a trusted advisor rather than a one-time point of contact.
  • Stay current on industry trends and competitor offerings to keep our proposals sharp and relevant.
  • Collaborate with marketing on content, case studies, and campaigns that showcase our technical expertise.
  • Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested.

What we're looking for

This role suits someone who's as comfortable talking technology as they are talking business. You don't need to know everything on day one — what matters most is curiosity, credibility with clients, and a genuine interest in solving problems. Beyond that, we're looking for someone who brings:

  • A genuine interest in technology and how it solves real business problems for clients
  • Strong communication and presentation skills — confident explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Good organisational skills and the discipline to manage a pipeline of opportunities at different stages
  • A consultative, relationship-first approach — you listen before you pitch
  • Reliability and ownership — you follow through on commitments and keep clients and colleagues informed
  • Resilience and drive — you stay motivated through a sales cycle that doesn't always move quickly

It would be a bonus, but is not essential, if you also have:

  • Previous experience in a technical sales, account management, or pre-sales role within IT or managed services
  • Familiarity with Microsoft technologies, including M365 or Azure
  • Experience preparing quotes, proposals, or responding to tenders
  • An interest in pursuing Microsoft certifications (we'll support you to get there)

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you'll need:

  • A Matric / National Senior Certificate (Grade 12), or equivalent
  • 2+ years' experience in a sales, account management, or client-facing role (technical or non-technical)
  • A valid driver's license, as this role includes client site visits
  • A relevant qualification or diploma/degree in IT, Business, Sales, or a related field

Advantageous:

  • Prior experience in technical sales, pre-sales, or account management within IT or managed services
  • Microsoft certifications or progress towards them
  • Experience using a CRM system (e.g. Zoho One or similar)
