Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) for CEPPWAWU
CEPPWAWU is a South African trade union representing workers across the chemical, energy, paper, printing, wood and allied sectors. With a distributed workforce and critical member-facing operations, CEPPWAWU relies heavily on technology to support communication, administration and service delivery.
Following challenges with their previous IT setup, CEPPWAWU partnered with Liyatech to deliver a secure, reliable digital transformation supported by Microsoft 365 and fully managed IT services.
“Liyatech has become a trusted partner to our organisation.
Support is responsive, issues are handled efficiently, and there is a genuine openness in how we work together. That relationship has made a real difference to how our teams operate day to day.”

Background
CEPPWAWU is a national trade union representing workers across multiple sectors, with offices and teams operating across South Africa. With a growing membership base and increasing operational demands, technology plays a critical role in enabling communication, service delivery, and internal coordination.
Following challenges with previous IT support arrangements, CEPPWAWU recognised the need for a more dependable technology partner one that could provide both modern infrastructure and consistent, people-focused support.
Liyatech was engaged to deliver a Managed IT Services and Microsoft 365 based digital transformation, providing stability, visibility, and a platform the organisation could rely on as it continues to grow.
“We’re now moving towards greater virtualisation with Microsoft Office 365. Previously, we relied on a locally hosted document management system, but we are transitioning to SharePoint Online. This ensures that our teams can access, manage, and share information efficiently, while maximising our investment in Microsoft 365.”

The Plan
CEPPWAWU’s existing IT environment included a mix of ageing infrastructure, limited remote access capabilities, and systems that were increasingly difficult to manage efficiently.
Liyatech worked closely with CEPPWAWU to design a clear, phased approach that focused on modernising core infrastructure, moving key workloads to the cloud where appropriate, improving reliability, security, and accessibility for staff, ensuring predictable costs and simplified IT management
The strategy balanced cloud-based services with essential on-premises components, ensuring performance, resilience, and continuity where it mattered most.
Modern Infrastructure & Cloud Enablement
As part of the digital transformation journey, Liyatech implemented Microsoft 365 as a core platform for collaboration, communication, and productivity.
- Reduced reliance on physical infrastructure
- Secure cloud-based email and collaboration tools
- Centralised document management using SharePoint
- Improved access for staff working remotely or across regions
The result was a more flexible, cost-effective IT environment that supports both office-based and distributed teams.
Proactive IT & Hardware Management
Beyond infrastructure modernisation, Liyatech provides end to end Managed IT Services for CEPPWAWU, covering:
- Proactive monitoring to prevent disruptions
- Day-to-day user support and issue resolution
- Ongoing optimisation of systems and services
- Hardware and software lifecycle management
This approach ensures CEPPWAWU’s teams can focus on their core mission, knowing their technology is stable, secure, and supported.
